"Black History Month came alive in both meaningful and fun ways for my 8-year-old! Ms. Mahogany is an energetic teacher and kept my son engaged and interested with questions and activities."
"During the Black History Month workshops, I appreciated the way Ms. Mahogany made it so fun to listen to history and gave them notes as you went along. I feel they learned a great deal. All of my kids (ages 9, 10, 14 and 15) enjoyed it. I enjoyed it too!"
"Because of your Women's History Month class, I have been pondering the absolute fierceness of the women who went before me and allowed me to have a seat at the table today. We really enjoyed the creative projects as well!"

JBY Academy is a new creative arts and academic enrichment program; designed with kids & teens in mind. For both homeschool children and traditional school. The program is based in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania (Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown). However, for parents outside of the area; who wish to register their child for the program, we are now hosting the program virtually online, via ZOOM video conferencing. This is a decision made to keep children engaged, enriched and connected; during these uncertain times of social distancing, due to the covid-19 health crisis.
JBY Academy was created out of love and devotion to the founder's son, DJ, an aspiring filmmaker, musician and zoologist.
JBY Academy developed a marvelous workshop series in February for children to learn and celebrate the rich history, contributions, and accomplishments of African-Americans. The program also teaches children African studies with enriching lessons that go beyond the narrow schism of slavery; that is often taught in traditional school books, but exposes the child to the vast history of the great continent of Africa, and it's contributions to the world we live in.
Due to the huge success of that workshop series, we are planning to expand it and make it a year-long program!
JBY Academy is a faith-based program, but we welcome all families, so long as they agree to be in alignment with the 5 Core Values of Just Be You Performing Arts. The program is open to all families who share a common interest in enhancing a child's exposure and knowledge of creative arts and culture.
There are no membership dues. And our new cyber meetups on ZOOM are very affordable. And, unlike most homeschool co-ops/groups, there is no rigid or demanding volunteering requirements. Whenever we meetup in person, parents have the option to drop-off or stay and participate. Full social distancing and covid-19 safety precautions will be in place for any in-person meetup. Masks will be required. No exceptions.
